Cookies are a kind of short term memory for the web.  They are stored in your browser and enable a site to 'remember' little bits of information between pages or visits.

They are widely used to make the web experience more personal, which is generally seen as a positive thing. However some cookies collect data across many websites, creating 'behavioural profiles' of people. These profiles can then be used to decide what content or adverts to show you. This use of cookies for targeting in particular is what the law was designed to highlight. By requiring websites to inform and obtain consent from visitors it aims to give web users more control over their online privacy.

The Royal Hotel

The Royal Hotel is an elegant old-fashioned hotel evoking a bygone era.  Built in 1832, The Royal is one of the oldest hotels on the island and shares the rare privilege of being one of only 30 establishments to be listed in every Michelin Guide since it was first published in 1911.

The Royal was the first hotel on the Isle of Wight to achieve 4 AA Stars and has a reputation for delicious, seasonal, modern British cooking, achieving two AA rosettes for culinary excellence over 17 consecutive years.

Bedrooms are individually designed and furnished with carefully chosen fabrics and stylish soft furnishings, with an emphasis on detail, luxury and comfort.  Many rooms have inspiring views over the sub-tropical gardens or Ventnor Bay.

Undoubtedly one of the Island’s best hotels, The Royal has been restored in a classic British style and provides service that is courteous, warm, efficient and friendly.
